No. Laminate and vinyl floors are synthetic products with a printed photograph of wood on top. Engineered flooring has a top layer of 100% real, natural timber. It feels, sounds, and ages exactly like solid wood.

Can an engineered floor be sanded and refinished if it gets scratched?

Yes. Premium engineered floors have a solid hardwood 'wear layer' that is typically 3mm to 6mm thick. Depending on this thickness, we can professionally sand and re-coat an engineered floor 2 to 4 times over its lifespan.

Should I choose a floating or glue-down installation?

For a premium, architectural feel, we always recommend a full glue-down (direct-stick) installation. It provides vastly superior acoustics, feels much more solid underfoot, and allows for much easier spot repairs in the future.
